On August 31st, 1955, the term "artificial intelligence" was first used.
62 years later, the call for AI WorkLab opens. The program is dedicated to the Artificial Intelligence (AI) sector, a growing market that, according to estimates, will reach a value of over $ 59.8 billion by 2025.
The development of AI will enable to accelerate significantly human progress and achieve never seen before exponential growth rates. For companies, it offers great opportunities for value creation and at the same time, in a competitive scenario, it presents great challenges.
Participating in a program like AI WorkLab, studying this industry and working actively to apply AI in different areas, is therefore an unmissable opportunity for those who want to keep pace with the times.
By joining AI WorkLab, you can transform your business idea into an MVP and test it on the market with the support of the experts from LUISS ENLABS team and partner companies.
Selected teams will receive a 2,500 euro equity free grant and will have access to a three-month program starting in January 2018 and taking place in Rome at LUISS ENLABS - The Startup Factory.
At the end of the program, participating startups will be presented at a Grand Finale.

The insurance industry can improve through innovation: this is the belief driving InsureTech, where AI can find some its most effective applications. As some example, AI can be used to design ultra-customized policies and dynamically adjust prices according to streams of data and deep learning trained AIs can handle the tasks of brokers and find the right mix of policies to complete an individual’s coverage.
AI provides the infrastructure to automatically scan, classify, perform data extraction and validation from documents based on their content (and not simply on their predefined structure). For example, the structure of invoices varies among different companies, but AI can automatically determine where to find the correct data and values. AI can also enable automated data discovery and management processes, providing data owners with insights and information about hidden relations among the data stored within their databases.
Talking about big trends influencing markets, Jeff Bezos pointed out that “We’re in the middle of an obvious one right now: machine learning and artificial intelligence. [...] Machine learning drives our algorithms for demand forecasting, product search ranking, product and deals recommendations, fraud detection, translations, and much more”. This provides clear examples of how AI-enabled solutions can personalize the offering and improve CRM and sales.
The rise of AI will cause an explosion of network penetrations, data thefts and epidemic-level spread of intelligent viruses. Ironically, the most effective way to defend from AI-enabled attacks is AI itself. For instance, machine learning can anticipate new risks and automatically update and enforce policies and it could be game-changing for organizations who need to quickly whittle down increasingly large amounts of data and identify incidents.
During these five events around Italy, you will be able to present your ideas and receive feedback. Sign up below for the upcoming roadshow events:Turin Trento Pisa Rome Naples
